Salone del Mobile 2018: Precious stone gives Smania’s luxury furniture an extra sheen

Smania used this year’s Salone del Mobile to present an incredible collection of luxury furniture characterised by the brand’s unmistakeable, elegant style – a combination of quintessentially Italian quality and meticulous attention to detail. Indeed, it’s the details – and the brand’s obsessive approach to selecting materials – that makes Smania’s creations truly unique. One of the features popular with the public was the use of natural stones such as tiger’s eye and labradorite, whose stunning beauty gives a prestigious feel to Smania’s luxury furniture and elevates the space around them to new heights.

Labradorite was used particularly extensively for some of the luxury furniture on show at the Smania stand. The beauty of this gem lies in its natural blend of cool colours, which range from peacock blue to dark grey via the magnetism of purple and aquamarine. Smania has struck gold in combining labradorite’s gorgeous colour palette – reminiscent of the Aurora Borealis – with wood’s natural veining and the shine of metal in this latest collection.

It is labradorite that creates the rectangular inlay in the front part of the Victory sideboard, a stunning detail that boosts the bold character of a piece that succeeds in striking the perfect balance between the softness of leather and the strength of wood. Labradorite is also used for the round Giselle side table, with its unique woven structure in gold-plated steel.
